Felt Gnome
Contents: Felt - Wool - string - Pom Pom
Complexity (1-10): 4
Glue: Glue Stick or Hot Glue would be appropriate for this project
Instructions
First, Tie the bundle of wool in the middle with about 1/2 of the strip already securing it (keep the other 1/2 handy). now cut all the loops on both ends of the bundle.
Cut out the card 1/2 circle template and use it to cut a 1/2 circle of the coloured felt (each gnome will have different coloured felt).
Make a hanging loop in the string and knot the cut ends. Fold the wool bundle in half (add a little glue) and place them both on the 1/2 circle as shown. The string should be placed a little to the side of the middle of the 1/2 circle. Also put glue on the other side of the 1/2 circle to secure the hat once your roll it up.
Now wrap the 1/2 circle around the wool & string tightly (so the wool doesn't come out) and secure with the glued last section of the 1/2 circle. Allow the glue to dry - you may need to put something heavy on top to make sure the hat doesn't unwind.
Once dried you will have a hat and beard as shown in the picture, it will probably look a little straggly at this point.
Glue the pom pom nose in the middle of the hat just under the rim. To find the middle, hold the gnome by the string to see what will face forward once hung up. Trim the wool beard to a rounded shape - you can have a long one or short one. I have platted 3 strands on each side of the face to create long braids and tied them up with the leftover wool. You could do one long plat down the middle... it's up to you!
Your Gnome is now ready to hang on your Christmas tree!
