Gingerbread House #2

Contents: Card cut-outs - Tissue Paper - Pegs

Complexity (1-10): 9

Glue: Glue Stick or PVA glue would be appropriate for this project

Instructions

PLEASE NOTE: Firstly, take out the large curved green piece of card, and find the side with the score line on it - DO NOT BEND THIS - the score lines face up and ONLY indicate where the fence, house, and trees will go.

Fold the small tabs on the ends of the white fence and lay them out on the green base along the score lines. the outer 3-sided square scored into the base is where the fence goes. The longest fence section goes to the left, the fence section without any side tabs goes in the middle, & the other section goes to the right. Once you have them sorted, glue down the tabs on the bottom of each section - some bottom tabs overlap, glue them on top of each other and to the green base, this adds stability.

Next, make the trees, fold all the medium and large green tree shapes in half along their score lines (the smallest trees with a trunk will be used later). Glue the sections together to form a 3D tree (like you did with the paper bauble ornaments). Glue the trees onto the green base on the 2 scored Xs, in outside the fence. The landscaping is now complete, Next you will add more decoration to the house.

Next, fold the smallest trees in half along the score line, glue the halves together but do not glue up the final 2 sides. Glue the final 2 sides of the small tree to the house and archway, as shown in the picture.

Next, to make the flower boxes, fold the white rectangle with cutout hearts and long tabs along the score lines (there are 2 flower boxes to make). Then, glue the long thin red strip of card inside the box along the line of hearts - try to cover the hearts comepletely.

Lastly, glue up the red strip. Then, fold up the flower boxes, using the first half of the tabs as sides. fold the last half of each tab in and glue it to the red strip as shown in the picture. Then fold the last section of the box down over the tab onto the red strip.

This will form a long box with red hearts showing through on the front. The taller scalloped edge sits at the back and will later be joined to the house. You may need to hold the boxes while the glue dries, the handy tiny pegs provided will help with this.

Now to fill the flower boxes. Take the paper straw and gently but firmly wrap a square of green tissue paper over the end as shown in the picture. Then put glue on the flat end of the green paper (dipping in PVC glue is easiest and less likely to tear).

Then, hold the paper and straw gently but firmly and push the end with the glue into the first flower box, pull just the straw away leaving a burst of green paper.

Repeat this process and fill up each flowerbox, you will likely get around 13/15 in each box. You are going for full and almost fluffy looking, but don't overfill them. There are extra squares of tissue paper provided in case any rip (it's easy to do), just fill them to where you are happy with how they look.

To complete the flower boxes, glue them to each side of the house just under the 2 square windows. This is most easily done by laying the house gently on its side and gluing one side at a time, waiting for the glue to dry before moving.

Your house is now complete, place it inside your fence on the base, the smaller 4-sided square scored into the base indicates where it sits.

Caution! DO NOT glue your house down immediately; you will need to be able to lift it up if you would like to place an electric candle inside, or toys and figures that might live here, or Christmas snacks/gifts etc.

Your GingerBread House & Landscaping are now complete; as always, feel free to make this little house your own, add in things, or move things around..... make up stories about who lives here or add figures inside. Don't forget, you can put an electric candle inside the house to see the house glow at night!

Your Gingerbread House is now ready to display!
